Mourinho's interviews are 'damaging' to Chelsea players - Filipe Luis

The former Blues defender finds Mourinho's antics 'normal' and regards his spell in the Premier League as a success, despite returning to Atletico Madrid after just one season
Filipe Luis believes Jose Mourinho's comments to the media can be "damaging" to certain members of his Chelsea squad.

Mourinho has come under pressure after a dismal start to the season that has seen the Blues win just seven of their 12 Premier League fixtures, although Goal understands the Portuguese will not be sacked during the international break.

Luis, who spent one season under Mourinho before returning to Atletico Madrid during the summer, believes the tactics of the former Real Madrid head-coach may be harming some of the Blues players.                                      "He has his way of talking to the press, especially when the team loses, which can sometimes be damaging to certain players. Some players benefit from criticism but for others they don't," he told Yahoo.

Mourinho has twice been fined this season for criticising officials and he watched his side's latest defeat – a 1-0 reverse at Stoke – from a hotel room after receiving a one-game stadium ban but Luis is not surprised by his antics.

"Sometimes he's right and sometimes he's not," he added. "Sometimes people think what he says is absurd and sometimes they agree with him. It's the way he is and the way he works. I see it as normal."

Despite making just 15 league appearances for Chelsea before returning to the Spanish capital, Luis regards his solitary season in England as a success.

"I consider my time with Chelsea a personal triumph," he added.

"In one year I won two titles – one being the Premier League. I have a trophy at home that not many people have and in possibly the most competitive league in the world."
