Wenger slams referee, Costa after Gunners loss

Disgruntled Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger criticised referee Mike Dean on Saturday after he failed to sanction Chelsea's controversial striker Diego Costa but sent off two Arsenal players in a bad-tempered London derby. Arsenal lost 2-0 at Stamford Bridge but it was Costa's tangling with their defence that most offended the manager. Television replays showed the intimidating Brazil-born Spaniard pushing Laurent Koscielny in the face during tussles in the Arsenal penalty area in the first half. "I think it's unacceptable what he does to Koscielny. He pushes him down, he hits him in the face. I do not understand Mike Dean's decision at all. Why does Diego Costa stay on the pitch and Gabriel is sent off? " Wenger said at his post match briefing. He added he felt Costa always acted belligerently and often got away with it. "He will do the same next week and it's always the same, he is always provoking." Wenger conceded that Gabriel deserved

Mozambique blames 'human error' for 24 dumped babies

Mozambican authorities on Sunday blamed human error after 24 still-born babies from a local hospital were dumped at a waste site, news agency AIM reported. The mayor of the city of Matola said the remains of babies born at Maputo Provincial Hospital were mistaken for refuse by an employee and transported to a dumping site outside the city. The remains were due to be buried after they were not claimed by parents. "What happened [on Friday] was that a colleague put the bodies of the stillbirths in the vehicle carrying ordinary hospital waste," hospital morgue administrator Carolina Macuacua told AIM. The mayor of Matola apologised to the nation for the error, saying the four hospital staff involved in the mix-up would be held to account. "We know this was a human error, and for that reason, we present our apology not only to the citizens of Matola, but also to the Mozambican society," mayor Calisto Cossa was quoted by AIM as saying. Why TV content costs are rising

Image
All over the world, prices that consumers pay monthly for subscription television or video services continue to rise –to their understandable chagrin. This rise is driven largely by the costs that distributors (pay-TV companies) must pay to the companies that create or package the programming or content: the networks. Subscription TV companies, as a rule, pay a fee for every household that receives that package, whether or not anyone in that household watches the network. The networks also set certain rules for how their content can be sold to end consumers, including which packages can contain their channels. This leaves little wriggle room for pay-TV providers. Fees paid by pay-TV companies to distribute content from networks like Discovery, Viacom, MGM and Disney are set in private business negotiations. Subscribers rarely know those negotiations are taking place let alone their outcomes. However, fees have risen higher and higher recently, leaving distributors w
